Caroline Guitar Company

Caroline Guitar Company build original, small-batch effects at their “distortery” in Columbia, South Carolina – no clones, no me-too circuits. Their pedals take familiar ideas like delay, reverb, tremolo and overdrive and twist them into something more characterful, often with their signature HAVOC feature for runaway, musical chaos.

At Guitar FX Direct we stock key Caroline favourites including Megabyte lo-fi delay computer, Meteore lo-fi reverb, Somersault chorus & vibrato, Parabola tremolo, Arigato phaser/vibrato and The Blues overdrive – with free UK delivery.

Why we like Caroline Guitar Company

Caroline Guitar Company pedals feel like they came from a small mad science lab – in the best possible way of course!

They use lo-fi digital and analogue circuits in creative combinations: delays and reverbs that can self-oscillate, modulation that can go from subtle movement to seasick warble, and overdrives that sit right between amp-like drive and fuzzy grit. The HAVOC feature that appears on several designs turns them into performance tools rather than just set-and-forget effects.

Megabyte – Lo-Fi Delay Computer

Megabyte builds on the acclaimed Kilobyte legacy with two old-school lo-fi digital chips, tap tempo, switchable trails/true bypass and a nastier HAVOC mode. It offers up to 1200ms of delay, modulation on the repeats and a +21dB drive preamp, while keeping the dry signal and mixing stages analogue for a rich, fat feel under the fingers.

Meteore – Lo-Fi Reverb

Meteore is a lo-fi, spring-style reverb that keeps your dry path analogue and pure, then adds overdrive and regeneration to the reverb tail. It can do small spring ambience, but also huge, gritty, oscillating soundscapes when you push the Attack and Regeneration controls or lean on the HAVOC switch for runaway textures.

Somersault – Chorus & Vibrato

Somersault is Caroline’s chorus/vibrato/faux-rotary device. It was the pedal their customers asked for for years – capable of gentle movement, old-school watery chorus, seasick wobble and glitchy “bleep-bloop” modulation. With mix control that can go fully wet and expressive LFO behaviour, it’s ideal for indie, dream-pop and experimental players.

Parabola – Solid State Tremolo

Parabola is a solid-state tremolo that borrows its deliciously sloshy transistor-based LFO and waveform from a classic West German design, but fixes the volume and headroom issues. It offers classic amplitude modulation (AM) as well as a filtered frequency-based mode (FM) that’s more subtle and less invasive on your picking. Pre and post gain stages let you use it as both tremolo and boost, while HAVOC can ramp speed and depth for dramatic bursts.

Arigato – Phaser & Vibrato

Arigato is an analogue OTA-based phaser that can morph into vibe-style vibrato. The mode switch shifts the filter notches for a more off-balance, “vibe” feel, and the bypass can be used as a momentary switch for single “hits” of phasing. With a mix that can go fully wet, square-wave options and a HAVOC-style control, it covers classic swirl through to over-the-top, pumpy modulation.

The Blues – 85% Drive, 15% Fuzz

The Blues is a deceptively simple overdrive with two main voicings and a character that’s roughly “85% drive, 15% fuzz”. A three-position switch changes how much grit and “blues lawyer vs blues doctor” flavour you get, while an internal trimpot lets you set the collector voltage of the BC108 transistor for more or less headroom. It’s designed to feel and sound like an expensive amp being pushed, even if you’re plugging into something more modest.

Between them, these Caroline pedals cover a lot of ground: from tasteful amp-like breakup to lo-fi repeats, blooming ambient reverb and modulated trem/phaser weirdness. If you’re looking for effects that inspire you to play differently rather than just repeat the same sounds, Caroline Guitar Company is a great place to start. If you’re unsure which one will best suit your rig and style, drop us a message and we’ll happily talk you through the options.
