Why we like Cusack Music
Cusack Music pedals combine solid engineering with genuinely interesting ideas. Based in Holland, Michigan, they were early pioneers of tap-tempo modulation and delay, and they still design and build pedals in-house rather than chasing endless clones. Their Screamer and Screamer Fuzz circuits have become cult favourites, while newer designs like Project 34 and Resound show how inventive they can be with preamps and reverb. The Project 34 is really amazing!
Screamer V2 / V3 – Refined Tube Screamer Style Overdrive
Screamer V2 and Screamer V3 take the classic Tube Screamer idea and add more gain, clarity and flexibility. You still get the familiar Level, Tone and Drive layout, but with three clipping options via a toggle switch so you can choose between classic mid-push, more open crunch or a slightly more aggressive feel. They’re designed to sit in a mix without disappearing, whether you’re boosting an amp or using them as your main drive sound.
Screamer Fuzz V3 & Carolina Reaper – Fuzzdrive Hybrids
Screamer Fuzz V3 blends Cusack’s Screamer overdrive with their LED-based fuzz circuit, giving you everything from a TS-style drive with a fuzzy edge to thick, saturated fuzz layered on top of an overdrive foundation. A Clip Selector switch lets you choose between Standard, Crushed or Asymmetrical LED clipping on the scream side for different response and feel. For even crazier stacked tones, the co-designed Carolina Reaper pairs germanium overdrive and fuzz in one box that can go from “just a bit of hair” to full-on crushing gain.
Meta Plexi – British Distortion & Boost
Meta Plexi is Cusack’s take on a classic British amp preamp in pedal form. With separate Treble, Mid and Bass controls plus gain and level, it covers everything from edge-of-breakup crunch through to hot-rodded Plexi-style distortion. It’s equally at home turning a clean amp into a classic rock machine or adding a tighter British voice in front of an already driven amp.
Project 34 & More Louder – Preamp and Boost
Project 34 is a unique preamp/drive built around a vintage selenium rectifier. That old-school component gives it a distinctive breakup texture and slightly “cooked” feel that players have compared to certain classic AC-style amps. It can run as a tone-sweetening preamp, as your main drive, or as a boost into other pedals. More Louder is a compact clean boost offering up to +25 dB of gain (with an internal jumper to reduce the range if you prefer). It’s designed not to alter your frequency response – just give you more of your original tone for solos or to hit other pedals harder.
Resound V2 – Programmable Reverb
Resound V2 is a programmable digital reverb with eight different algorithms, presets and updated features over the original version, including dedicated expression input and true stereo outputs. It can cover subtle room and plate sounds, bigger shimmer and modulated verbs, and more experimental, atmospheric spaces – making it a great all-round reverb if you need more than one flavour on your board.
We also have a detailed interview with the Cusack team in our People Behind The Pedals series, which is well worth a read if you’d like to dig into their design philosophy and history. If you’re unsure whether a Screamer, Screamer Fuzz, Project 34 or another Cusack pedal is the best fit for your rig, just drop us a message and we’ll happily talk through the options.
