Death By Audio pedals are not about subtle, edge-of-breakup tones – they’re about pushing your amp into new dimensions of fuzz, noise and ambience. Hand-built in New York, they combine wild ideas with surprisingly usable controls, so you can go from thick, musical saturation to total sonic destruction at will. Apocalypse & Fuzz War – Core Fuzz and Distortion
Apocalypse is a versatile fuzz/overdrive/distortion with five selectable modes – Twin-T Scoop, War Fuzz, Dual J-FET, Octave Rect and Gain x1000 – plus a sweepable tone control that lets you dial in everything from tight, cutting distortion to thick, blown-out fuzz. It can act as an always-on drive, a huge solo boost or a bass fuzz and still sit well in a band mix.
Fuzz War is one of the big modern fuzz benchmarks – a simple three-knob design that runs from gritty drive through to massive, sustaining walls of fuzz. The wide-ranging tone control and huge output mean it will happily push pretty much any amp into total meltdown while still letting you hear the character of your guitar or bass.
Waveform Destroyer & Absolute Destruction – Maximum Mayhem
Waveform Destroyer is a four-channel analogue fuzz/distortion with eight internal DIP switches, giving up to 500 harmonically distinct combinations of fuzz, overdrive and distortion. Each footswitch adds a different “layer of mayhem” – engage, boost, filter and blast – so you can lock in your favourite combinations internally and then stomp through them on stage without ever touching a knob.
Absolute Destruction takes fuzz to the point of collapse. With controls designed to force the circuit into self-oscillation, sputtering gated tones and brutal square-wave clipping, it was built for heavier rock, metal and experimental noise where “too much” is exactly the point.
Micro Dream & Reverberation Machine – Lo-Fi Delay & Reverb
Micro Dream is a compact, streamlined version of the Echo Dream 2 that still uses an analogue bucket brigade delay line. It delivers warm, decaying repeats that can be pushed into oscillation, plus simple controls for delay time, feedback and blend – perfect for lo-fi, hazy repeats that sit around your playing rather than pristine, hi-fi delay.
Reverberation Machine is DBA’s take on dark, eerie reverb. It can add a subtle room-like ambience, but it really shines when you push the controls into blown-out, almost synth-like washes and metallic clang. The built-in gain and tone shaping let you move from spooky spring-ish textures to full-on reverb overload.
Deep Animation, Robot & Micro Harmonic Transformer – Filters, Pitch & High-Gain Fuzz
Deep Animation is an analogue envelope filter that responds dynamically to your playing, adding throbbing, vocal-like sweeps which can be driven into overdrive. It’s ideal for bass or guitar parts that need movement and attitude rather than polite funk quack.
Robot is a lo-fi 8-bit pitch transposer that turns your signal into robotic, glitchy, vintage video-game tones. It can shift up or down, do fixed pitches and create dissonant, synthetic textures that sound nothing like a normal guitar – brilliant for intros, noise sections or anyone who likes Casio/Nintendo-style sounds.
Micro Harmonic Transformer is a super high-gain fuzz based on the original Harmonic Transformer, shrunk into a smaller enclosure. It uses a filter to sculpt and exaggerate upper harmonics, moving from thick, textured fuzz to screaming, harmonically rich tones that cut through dense mixes.
Soundwave Breakdown & Octave Clang v2 – Octave & Reverse Fuzz Weirdness
Soundwave Breakdown offers psycho “reverse” fuzz sounds that can go from buzz and grind to bleeps, synth-like tones and chaotic noise depending on how you set the very interactive controls. Small movements of the knobs can dramatically change the sound, making it a great tool for experimental players who like to live on the edge.
Octave Clang v2 combines a powerful fuzz circuit with an octave-up effect, capable of classic 60s-style octave fuzz leads as well as more discordant, almost ring-mod-like textures at extreme settings. Separate control of fuzz, volume and tone means it can be dialled back for vintage-inspired leads or pushed into “broken speaker” territory.
