Why we like KMA Audio Machines
KMA Audio Machines pedals feel like little self-contained worlds, with artwork and sounds that tell a story. Underneath the myth and monsters you get smart, modern features: active EQs, expression inputs, parallel paths and noise management that make these boxes genuinely practical on a busy pedalboard. At Guitar FX Direct we like KMA because they cover both classic bread-and-butter tones and the more experimental textures that inspire fresh riffs and ambient soundscapes.
Logan – flexible overdrive and preamp
The KMA Audio Machines Logan Overdrive Pedal is a great starting point if you want a versatile drive that can do low-gain push, mid-gain crunch or more aggressive lead sounds. The active three-band EQ with fully parametric mids, pre/post gain switching and expression input means Logan can act as both your main overdrive and a powerful tone-shaping preamp at the front of your rig or into an amp and cab sim setup.
Wurm 2 – HM-2 inspired high-gain distortion
The KMA Audio Machines Wurm 2 – High Gain Distortion is KMA’s modern take on the classic HM-2 style chainsaw sound. It ranges from tight, gritty rhythm grind to full doom and Swedish-style death metal, with a four-band active EQ and multiple EQ styles that let you sculpt either the familiar sawtooth mid spike or a more balanced, mix-friendly distortion. If you want one pedal to cover extreme gain, Wurm 2 is a strong candidate.
Guardian Of The Wurm – distortion and noise gate
The KMA Audio Machines Guardian Of The Wurm combines Wurm-style distortion with an ultra-fast VCA-based noise gate and a deep semi-parametric EQ section. It is made for modern high-gain rigs where you want tight palm mutes, controlled feedback and plenty of clarity, whether you are playing guitar, baritone, bass or synth. For players who want a self-contained metal engine in a single box, Guardian Of The Wurm is ideal.
Chief Disruptor – advanced muff-style fuzz and distortion
The KMA Audio Machines Chief Disruptor is a flexible muff-style fuzz and distortion with three gain modes, an active EQ and a powerful parametric mid section. It goes from thick wall-of-sound sustain to more focused riff tones, and the clean-blend and top-boost options help it sit properly in a band mix. If you love classic muff textures but want more control and headroom, Chief Disruptor is a very capable choice.
Fuzzly Bear V2 – Bosstone-inspired fuzz
The KMA Audio Machines Fuzzly Bear V2 reimagines the vintage Jordan Bosstone fuzz, adding back low-end and a useful bias control. It can move from spitty, gated fuzz and garage-rock crunch to thicker, more sustaining tones, all in a compact, top-mounted enclosure. It is perfect if you like characterful, slightly odd fuzz that still works well on a real-world pedalboard.
Moai Maea and Queequeg 2 – analogue octave power
The KMA Audio Machines Moai Maea Analogue Octaver generates one octave up and up to two octaves down, letting you build huge, synth-like stacks from a single note. The octave mix controls and built-in FX loop make it easy to tailor how much sub and upper octave you want and where additional effects sit in the chain.
The KMA Audio Machines Queequeg 2 Sub Octave Generator focuses on fast-tracking, monophonic sub-octave tones in a stripped-down format. A single knob blends in the octave-down voice, making it ideal for thickening guitar parts, adding faux-bass on smaller gigs or giving synth lines an extra layer of low-end weight.
Cirrus – expressive delay and reverb
The KMA Audio Machines Cirrus Delay & Reverb is a dynamic ambient engine that combines three delay modes and three reverb modes with independent modulation and expression control. It can handle simple slapback and plate-style ambience, but really shines for evolving, attack-sensitive textures, infinite trails and experimental sound design. If you need one box to cover most of your delay and reverb needs with plenty of depth, Cirrus is worth a close look.
Astrospurt and HorizonT – phasers with range
The KMA Audio Machines Astrospurt is a four-stage JFET phaser that delivers warm, classic sweep sounds in an easy-to-dial format, ideal for adding motion to cleans or giving leads a subtle vocal quality.
For more adventurous modulation, the KMA Audio Machines HorizonT Phaser combines analog JFET phasing with a digitally controlled LFO, multiple waveforms, an envelope mode, stereo output and an onboard FX loop. It can shift from traditional phase to tremolo-like chops and wild, synth-like sweeps, making it a centrepiece modulation pedal for experimental players.
Tyler Deluxe – frequency-selective splitter
The KMA Audio Machines Tyler Deluxe – Frequency Splitter is a powerful utility tool that splits your signal into high- and low-pass bands, each with its own FX loop, phase options and level control. It allows you to keep your low end clean while distorting only the highs, blend parallel effects chains or even treat it as an advanced AB/Y box. If you want to get more from the pedals you already own, Tyler Deluxe opens up a lot of routing tricks.
Pylon – advanced noise gate and boost
The KMA Audio Machines Pylon Noise Gate is an ATB noise gate with an integrated transformer-based boost section. It is designed to tighten up high-gain rigs, adding up to 30 dB of gain while keeping hiss and hum under control. With external trigger options, channel switching and a variable cut control, it is a great partner for Wurm 2, Chief Disruptor or any other high-gain pedal on your board.
If you are not sure which KMA Audio Machines pedal will work best with your guitar, amp and style, please contact us. We are always happy to help you compare options, build parallel signal chains and put together a KMA-based setup that really earns its place on your pedalboard.
