Why we like SolidGoldFX
SolidGoldFX sit in a sweet spot between classic and adventurous. Many of their pedals start with a familiar idea – a fuzz face, a vintage chorus, a spring reverb – then push it further with extra controls, clever switching and deeply musical voicings. They are excellent “character” pedals that still play nicely with the rest of a board.
Lysis Mk II – polyphonic octave fuzz with synth flavour
The Lysis Mk II blends fuzz, polyphonic octave and filter style modulation for thick, synth-like tones. It is fantastic for doom riffs, bass-heavy lines and experimental textures, but can also be dialled back for more traditional fuzz with extra weight and movement.
76 Mk II and Imperial MkII – powerful fuzz options
Between the 76 Mk II Octave Fuzz and the Imperial MkII, SolidGoldFX cover a wide palette of fuzz. The 76 Mk II is ideal for octave-laced leads and cutting riffs, while the Imperial MkII’s JFET preamp and noise gate give you tight, controlled fuzz tones for guitar, bass or synth.
NU-33 Vinyl Engine – lo-fi chorus and wobble
The NU-33 Vinyl Engine is a chorus and vibrato that leans into lo-fi, warbly vinyl textures. With doubler, tap tempo and expressive modulation, it can add subtle movement to clean tones or full-on broken-tape wobble to ambient and indie parts.
Ether and Counter Current – expressive ambience
For reverb duties, the Ether Modulated Reverb serves up rich, modulated ambience with tremolo and vibrato flavours built in, while the Counter Current focuses on spacious, atmospheric reverb that still keeps your dry tone present in a mix.
Communication Breakdown, Oblivion and Commodore – dirt and modulation staples
The Communication Breakdown offers dual fuzz tones inspired by classic British circuits, the Oblivion Quad Flanger handles everything from gentle chorus-like movement to dramatic jet flange, and the Commodore Overdrive delivers a natural, amp-like response that stacks beautifully with other drives and fuzzes.
