Black Arts Toneworks Son of Pharaoh
The Black Arts Toneworks Son of Pharaoh stays true to the patriarch of the Pharaoh line.
All of what you achieve with the Gold Standard Pharaoh, you will achieve with the Son of Pharaoh, with one exception.
You will save pedalboard space because it has a footprint of 2.75×5 inches saving space on today’s crowded pedalboards.
The Son of Pharaoh has all the familiar features of the Gold Standard Pharaoh and the same sonic abilities.
It still has the following controls
- Silicon diode clipping
- Germanium diode clipping
- Bypass
Here is a quick explanation from a tech perspective – Clipping diode
All parts and components are pulled from the same bins as the Gold Standard Pharaoh and Pharaoh Supreme. Sounds the same. Feels the same under your fingers, amps react the same. Same King Pharaoh tone, smaller Son stature.
Some have said it sounds slightly more scooped than the original, although there is always room for influence and the ability to tweak the tone with the EQ. But it still remains the brilliant Pharaoh in a smaller package. This fantastic Muff-based pedal can now squeeze into your pedalboard!
And, of course, the Son of Pharaoh retains the options where you can switch between, or bypass, the clipping diode. For instance, you can choose between germanium, for classic tone; silicon for higher gain, or bypass the clipping diodes altogether.
This pedal operates on a Standard 9VDC power supply. No battery connection.
Still handmade, hand-wired because it’s the Son of the Pharaoh.
The Son of Pharaoh.
All Hail the Pharaoh.

It’s a great pedal! Green Russian muffs are a huge part of my rather doom influenced sound.
The choice of germanium, open, or silicon diodes as well as lo and hi gain modes make it really versatile for recording too.
I believe I used it on this track recently https://open.spotify.com/track/2nZrO86kukIt8AIBMF6YPo?si=TSMDo_PMTsmVtZF8ioAnbw
