The CIOKS SOL is the baby of the CIOKS PSU family. They’re just as solid and reliable as the larger DC7 at a more affordable price point — just fewer outlets.

For smaller boards, this is exactly where to start.

What is the CIOKS SOL?

The SOL is CIOKS’ smallest powered supply — no wall-warts, no external bricks, just five properly isolated regulated outputs in a 1-inch (25.4mm) profile. This is the successor to the DC5 that has been refined a bit.

Fundamentally the same as the DC7 v2, the difference is scale. It has five outputs instead of seven, 30W total instead of 48W, and no USB or 24V auxiliary outlet. This is ideal for a smaller board. But worth noting it’s not expandable like the DC7 is, using the CIOKS 8.

SOL vs DC7 v2 – How Do I Choose?

Of course the answer depends on your board and plans for the future — who doesn’t want to expand their board!

Get the SOL if you have up to five pedals or your board is compact, and you don’t need USB charging or future expansion. If that fits, there’s no point getting more — the SOL gives you isolated outputs, selectable voltages, and a rock-solid noise floor, but at less cost.

Pick the DC7 v2 if you need expansion capability or capacity for the future.

Both are built to the same standard. The SOL just does less of it.

CIOKS SOL Key Features

The SOL has five isolated outlets, each with four selectable voltages — sufficient for the vast majority of pedals.

  • 5 fully isolated DC outputs
  • 9V / 12V / 15V / 18V
  • 660mA per outlet at 9V (500mA at 12V / 400mA at 15V / 330mA at 18V)
  • 30W total output power
  • Per-outlet LED status indicators
  • Universal mains input: 100–240V AC
  • 5-year worldwide warranty
  • Designed in Denmark, made in Poland

Voltage and Current

Every outlet has four selectable voltages (same as the DC7 v2) — 9V, 12V, 15V, or 18V — switched via recessed DIP switches. So even on a smaller board, you’re not locked into a single voltage.

If you want to experiment using your pedals at 18V (only where the manufacturer recommends it!), then one switch flip and you have 18V.

Monitoring

Each outlet has its own LED status indicator, which switches off in overload conditions. A global status indicator remains lit unless there’s an issue. In overload conditions it goes out, and hiccup mode cuts power completely. This is the same approach as the DC7, scaled to five outlets.

Build and Mounting

The enclosure build is the same as the rest of the range — compact, solid, and light. It sits neatly under most pedalboards. There’s mounting hardware included for both Pedaltrain and Templeaudio boards. For Pedaltrain boards, the optional CIOKS GRIP v2.0 bracket allows drill-free mounting.

The SOL includes these Flex cables, again covering the vast majority of pedal power connections:

  • Standard Flex type 1 — centre-negative 2.1mm x5
  • Standard Flex type 2 — centre-positive 2.1mm x1
  • Standard Flex type 4 — centre-positive 2.5mm x1
  • Split Flex — powers two pedals from one outlet x1
  • 3-way daisy chain — powers three pedals from one outlet x1

What’s the difference between the CIOKS SOL and the DC7 v2?

The SOL has five outputs whereas DC7 has seven. Total output is 30W again 48W for the DC7. The Sol has no USB-C charging outlet, nor capability to expand.

What’s the difference between the CIOKS SOL and the old DC5?

Circuitry has been updated to the same switch-mode design as the DC7.

Is the CIOKS SOL noisy?

No. Its sophisticated regulation and filter circuits render it almost noiseless.

Can I expand the SOL with additional outlets?

No — the SOL has no 24V auxiliary outlet, so can’t be expanded. The DC7 v2 is the one for you if this is required.

What cables are included?

9 Flex cables in total : Centre-negative 2.1mm (x5), centre-positive 2.1mm, centre-positive 2.5mm, a Split Flex (1 outlet to 2 pedals), and a 3-way daisy chain (1 outlet to 3 pedals).

Can I use it abroad?

Yes. It has a universal input covering 100–240V AC meanings it works anywhere, with the right mains adapter, of course.

What’s the warranty?

5 years – same as all the CIOKS range.
