The Death By Audio Space Bender is a digital chorus and modulation pedal built around dynamically modulated delay lines. This is the same basic tech as vintage chorus and flanger effects, but pushed into experimental territory.
It can produce glassy, bell-like resonances, dive-bomb sweeps and unsettling drones!
Rocker switches select the type and ranges between effect controls, and the speed and depth controls then shape the character of the modulation.
The Speed control is central to the sound. The rate of the modulated delay determines whether you get subtle vintage chorus, a flanger type sweep, or bending, warping modulation.
Controls
- Speed: Controls the speed of the LFO, sensitivity of the envelope, and time of the delays.
- Depth: Controls the depth of the envelope or the LFO, as well as the feedback of the delays
- Delay Time (Rocker): Sets the overall delay time range, from very short (x1) to medium-long (x10). it also inverts the envelope’s polarity, which matters in ENV mode.
- Modulator (Rocker): Sets the source of modulation for the delay – sine wave in LFO mode or an envelope in ENV mode.
- Intensity (Rocker): Sets the overall intensity of the effects. High-intensity settings can create oscillations
- Gain (Internal): Controls the output level, Ned to unscrew the backplate for this one
