The EQD Arrows is about as simple as a pedal gets. One knob, all-discrete analogue circui and true bypass.
But simple doesn’t mean limited. Designed to add an extra channel of gain to drive pedals, brighten up neck pickups, it makes whatever comes into it sound more present and defined.
The circuit boosts midrange and tightens the low end while brightening the top end . This is a familiar and genuinely useful combo in a number of different ways.
Before a fuzz pedal, Arrows cleans up low end muck and gives the fuzz more definition. Before a light overdrive, it pushes the drive into higher gain territory. On its own it makes the signal more present . As EQD put it “more pizazz” , which is as good a description as any.
It works on guitar, bass, and synth — the same basic effect applies to each: more presence, more definition, more push.
