The Fairfield Circuitry Modele B is an “always on” Barbershop pedal.
The Modele B takes the Barbershop circuit and strips it down to its essentials. There’s no bypass switch, no light, however two tone options are selectable via an internal jumper. That’s flat and wide, like the middle tone of the Barbershop, or a lighter voicing again like the Millenium’s right-hand tone position.
Don’t forget, a tone control is not needed with this pedal because it is always on. Just adjust your amp or other outboard EQ.
The Sag control does give some tone change, of course. Turn down the sag for that old school slightly mush blue sound, or high up for a more crispy edge of break-up type drive.
Fairfield Circuitry Modele B Controls
- Drive: Sets the interstage gain of the amplifiers. More gain means more distortion. The wide operating range allows you to go from an almost clean gain to a tasty rich overdrive.
- Sag: The Sag control reduces the voltage to the amplifiers as you turn it counterclockwise, giving additional control over the character and feel of the saturation. The lower the Sag, the browner the sound. Full voltage is applied when the control is set fully clockwise. It is at this setting that the pedal has the potential to be its cleanest and loudest.
- Volume: Controls the output volume of the pedal while keeping the effect unchanged. This is where you have plenty of room to boost.

FAQs
Same as the Barbershop Millenium overdrive, but always on and thus at cheaper price point.
Nothing really – tone circuits are identical , just always on
It selects between two tone voicings, one being a flat, wide response , the other applies a subtle high-frequency / low-pass filter – same as the right tone position on the Millenium.
Again, same as Barbershop, it simulates a real valve amp that is running out of juice because it is being driven hard . Sag being voltage dropping when it wasn’t designed to . But what gives that great sound!
Yes. You can’t bypass it – buy a Barbershop Millenium if you need to do that
No
