Fulltone Octafuzz OF2
The Fulltone Octafuzz OF2 is the only exact circuit copy of the legendary Tycobrahe Octavia.
Cool Octave-Up sounds a la Hendrix “Band of Gypsies” and SRV’s many live shows!
Housed in a 14ga. steel enclosure with a beautiful blue gloss powder coat finish and antique-white logo. Yes, this pedal is the reincarnation of the Tycobrahe.
Sometime in the mid 1970’s someone brought a funny looking white Octave-Up/Fuzz pedal into the Tycobrahe Sound Company in Hermosa Beach, CA.
This broken “Octavio,” as it was named, reportedly had once belonged to one James Marshall Hendrix. They fixed it, and it sounded so funky that they decided to put it on the market as the Tycobrahe Octavia.
SRV
Thanks to its use by Stevie Ray Vaughan and a few others, the Octavia became the most sought-after and expensive Octave-up pedal for effects junkies ever made. They can fetch well over $2500 in mint condition if you can find one.
I have a few of ‘em, and have studied & repaired dozens. Unless you have to, you have no business making clones of them, in their opinion.
“Edgy, tweaked, and haunted by strange overtones, its distortion occupies a galaxy far, far away from modern crunchola fuzz.”
— Guitar Player Mag
Almost synth-like with its ring-modulation and “steel-drum” vibe… you will turn heads.
Around 2000 I developed a mod for the Octafuzz. It made it into a massive non-Octavia Fuzztone with a flip of a switch. This mod is adopted by all other companies that make Tycobrahe reissues and clones.
Fulltone Octafuzz OF2 – SRV tones with the massive cost!
Controls:
All pretty self-explanatory
- Volume
- Boost
- Switch for Fuzz / Octave UP
Use 9V battery or 9V CENTRE POSITIVE (fairly unusual) supply. Please see the instructions supplied with the pedal – requires a separate, isolated power source
