The Keeley Halo is the result of Andy Timmons and Robert Keeley working together to capture a sound Andy had been developing for decades. This is a modulated dual echo that is somewhere between a delay and a reverb diffusion. Add a sprinkling of tape-style modulation, saturation, and compression. It’s the delay sound that defines his playing, available to anyone in a single pedal.

The concept is straightforward even if the sound is distinctive.

Two completely independent delay engines, Side A and Side B, each with their own saved settings, switchable between on the fly via the two footswitches. Set Side A for your main delay tone, Side B for something different, and move between them mid-song with a single footswitch press.

It is worth being clear on one point that causes confusion. Side A and Side B cannot run simultaneously. Only one side of each preset bank can be active at a time.

The Halo works as two independently programmable delay sounds in one pedal — not two delays running in parallel. If you want simultaneous dual delays, look elsewhere. If you want two completely different delay sounds instantly switchable via footswitch, the Halo does it better than almost anything else available.

The five delay rhythms — Quarter Note, Dotted Eighth, Andy’s signature Halo modulated echo, Bucket Brigade stereo rack BBD, and Multi-Tap Tape Delay — give you a genuinely wide range of delay characters from a single pedal. Eight factory presets are loaded with Andy’s own settings as a starting point, all fully reprogrammable.

The Keeley Halo is two delay pedals

Think of Halo as two delay pedals that work in tandem, letting you switch between your main delay (side A) and an alternative (side B).

With up to 1500 ms of available delay, set sides A and B for different delay times, then simply foot switch between the two. Keeley’s Smart Stomp System allows you to press and hold either stomp switch to engage tap tempo mode.

Press and hold the alternate stomp switch for infinite repeat/hold. Each Preset bank gives you 2 delays settings for a total of 8 user-storable effects. Use the Rhythm control to select between different echoes like Halo, Analogue, Tape, Quarter and Dotted Eighth.
Halo’s Saturate control adds tape compression texture to your tone.

The Tone and High Pass Filter controls your overall delay shape and mix.

The Rhythm Mode selector delivers 5 delay types, including Andy’s unique “Halo” sound. Set the Time and Feedback controls low, and you can open up a world of ambient chorus and flanger effects.

Run the Halo in stereo for incredible true-stereo imaging or save your favorite combination of settings as a preset and the HALO becomes an incredibly compact multi-effect workstation!

One thing worth being clear about- Side A and Side B cannot run simultaneously.

Only one side of each preset bank can be active at a time.

FAQs

What is the Halo effect?

It’s Andy Timmons’s signature modulated dual echo sound, produced by having two delay voices running simultaneously at different timings.

Can Side A and Side B run at the same time?

No. Only one side of each preset bank can be active at a time

What are the five delay rhythms?

Quarter Note, Dotted Eighth, Halo, Bucket Brigade, and Multi-Tap Tape Delay.

How do presets work?

There are four preset banks, each containing two stored settings

What is Infinite Hold?

Delay repeats sustain indefinitely at a stable level without building to runaway feedback. This is controled with the footswitches

How does the Halo compare to the Halo Core?

The Halo Core is a simplified version with three delay modes (Halo, Quarter Note, and Dotted Eighth), a dedicated tap tempo footswitch, and a more streamlined layout. The full Halo adds a second independent delay engine (Side A and Side B), five delay rhythms instead of three modes, eight factory presets, and full MIDI control.
