The OBNE Fault V2 is an overdrive and distortion pedal that covers the full gain range in a single box. It goes from clean boost, to light overdrive then on into heavy distortion territory.
The design is inspired by pedals that traced their lineage back to the Klon Centaur, though OBNE have expanded the idea by adding a three-band EQ and a secondary switched gain stage.
The three-band EQ is the key feature. Low (100Hz shelf), Mid (500Hz bell), and High (3kHz shelf) give you the ability to reshape the frequency rather than having a fixed voicing. Scoop the mids, hump them, or flatten everything!
The Fault V2 adapts to your guitar and amp rather than imposing its own character. Also it stacks well with itself or other drives. Again in this scenario the EQ shapes the combined sound.
The Gain 2 footswitch adds a second, heavier distortion circuit on demand. At minimum it does nothing. As you turn it up it introduces increasingly heavy distortion — turning a pedal you thought was only an overdrive into something considerably more aggressive.

- Bypass footswitch: True bypass on/off.
- Gain 1: Sets the intensity of the first gain stage from light and sparkly to tight and crunchy.

- Volume: Master output volume.
- Gain 2 footswitch: Activates the second gain stage. Knob at minimum does nothing. Turn up for increasingly heavy distortion.

- Crush Switch: Adds even more clipping at the end of the gain stages, using a pair of clipping diodes
