Old Blood Noise Endeavors OBNE Sunlight Stereo Reverb

£279.00

The OBNE Sunlight Stereo is a bright and alive sounding modulated reverb, all about sonic motion and dynamics. Post-reverb delay, LFO-controlled filtering, dynamic trail holds, and full stereo I/O. The counterpart to the Dark Star Stereo.

The OBNE Sunlight Stereo is a bright and alive modulated reverb pedal. But that’s just the starting point!

After the reverb engine, the signal hits a short delay line, a resonant filter, and a volume stage. Modulate any of these three using the onboard LFO.

The result is flanging, chorusing, tremolo, and auto-filter sweeps. Set the LFO slowly and the reverb breathes and moves. Push the rate and feedback and you get into weird territory!

How Does the OBNE Sunlight Stereo Compare to the Original?

This version isn’t just “with added stereo”, it’s a ground-up rethink that keeps the core idea but opens up the architecture completely.

The original had three fixed modes — Tape, Comb, and Pass — where the Stereo gives you all these effects at once, separately controlled. You can now combine delay feedback, filter movement, and LFO modulation in any combination you choose. It’s the same upgrade philosophy as the Dark Star original to Stereo.

Sunlight Stereo vs Original Sunlight

The original Sunlight (mono, three fixed modes) is discontinued. The Stereo is the current production model.

Compared to its predecessor, the Stereo adds true stereo I/O, an analogue dry signal path, MIDI control, onboard presets, and expression control over every knob.

How Does the Sunlight Compare to the Dark Star?

It’s a different character altogether! The Dark Star Stereo is all about lo-fi degradation, pitch shifting, and bit crushing dark reverb.

The Sunlight is all about sonic motion .The LFO modulates the delay, filter, and volume, with a Dynamics control that responds directly to your playing. Its the same stereo architecture but completely different sonic territory. Designed as companions.

Controls

  • Dry: Sets the volume of the dry signal. With Wet also turned up, it creates a halo of very short reverb around the dry signal, running in parallel to the main reverb.
  • Dynamics: Has two function gates the reverb input — only stronger signals are allowed in, and while those signals are incoming, decay is reduced to clear existing trails.
  • The further above noon you go, the louder you need to play to trigger the reverb. With Decay at maximum, you get dynamically held pads that sustain indefinitely when you stop playing.
  • Decay: Sets the reverb trail length by feeding signal back into itself.
  • Feedback: Sets the feedback of the post-reverb delay. No surprises there!
  • Rate: Sets the LFO rate. Pressing Aux while turning Rate also sets subdivisions or multiplications of the main rate.
  • Depth: Sets the depth of the LFO. All the way down means no modulation takes place.
  • Shape: Sets the LFO waveform — Tape (a unique shape inspired by the original Sunlight’s Tape mode), Triangle, Square, Ramp Up, Ramp Down, and Random.
  • Time: Sets the delay time of the post-reverb delay up to 218ms. When the LFO is assigned to Time, modulation range extends up to 436ms.
  • Freq: Sets the cutoff frequency of the post-delay filter from 0Hz to 5kHz. With the LFO assigned, range extends to 10kHz.
  • Wet: Sets the volume of the wet signal.
  • Aux footswitch: Three settings — tap tempo, reverb hold, or preset switching.
  • On/Off footswitch: Tap to latch, hold for momentary action.

Setup, Presets, and Routing

There are three onboard presets. Routing (Mono, Mono-In-Stereo-Out, or Stereo) is set by holding On/Off and pressing Preset. Both routing and bypass settings save globally.

Expression is assigned by turning any knob while holding On/Off.

Factory reset by holding On/Off and Aux for ten seconds.

Note: the USB jack on the Sunlight Stereo is reserved for future firmware updates only — it has no other current function.

Power and Connections

Sunlight Stereo requires a 9V DC centre-negative supply at 350mA.

Who Is The OBNE Sunlight For?

The Sunlight Stereo suits many styles but can be dramatic and cinematic — great for layering textured sounds, building evolving soundscapes, or adding movement and depth to ambient passages.

If you’re already running or considering the Dark Star Stereo, the two pedals are designed as companions. Together they cover the full ambient spectrum — dark and degraded on one side, bright and moving on the other.

FAQs

What’s the difference between the original Sunlight and the Sunlight Stereo?

The original Sunlight was mono and had three fixed modes (Tape, Comb, Pass). The Stereo is stereo (!) – has an open architecture making simultaneous use of effects possible. There is also a lot more: six LFO shapes, four filter types, MIDI, presets, expression control and analogue dry signal path.

What’s the difference between the Sunlight Stereo and the Dark Star Stereo?

They have the same artictcture, giving the flexibility of simultaneous effects , but the Dark Star Stereo is lo-fi, and built around pitch shifting and bit crushing. The Sunlight Stereo is bright and built around LFO delay modulation and filtering.

What does the Dynamics control actually do

It has two functions. Below noon, it creates an envelope-controlled LFO rate where your playing strength affects LFO rate. Above noon, it gates the reverb input. At maximum, used with Decay all the way up, it creates dynamically held pads that sustain indefinitely when you stop playing.

Can I use it in mono

Yes.

Does it have MIDI

Yes. 3 onboard presents and 127 controlled through MIDI
