ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud
The ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud allows you to achieve some of the best Muff style fuzz tones you’ve ever heard.
The Fallout Cloud provides a classic triangle era fuzz tone.
It is engineered to remove the inherent compromises of that design. From the outset, the Fallout Cloud was designed to beat a particularly sweet vintage triangle muff. A thorough analysis of the vintage pedal and some lateral thinking about the tonality of that pedal led to the Fallout Cloud
Fallout Cloud design?
A number of vintage pedal enthusiasts I know asked me to design the Fallout Cloud based on Triangle era style pedal.
The brief was simple. Make a triangle era Fuzz that could beat their original 1971 Triangle fuzz pedals when placed head to head.
The brief was simple. The task was not.
However, after many prototypes and a bit of lateral thinking, the FALLOUTÂ CLOUDÂ was born.
This pedal has the ability to beat any four transistor fuzz you have heard (including the best vintage units). By adjusting the perfectly voiced EQ you can achieve fuzz tones from silky smooth through to doom-laden, whilst maintaining the ability to cut through.
Check out the video in the video section on the ThorpyFX site if you’d like to hear it in action.
Internally the pedal is immaculately built using premium 1% metal-film resistors, Wima and Panasonic capacitors, and Neutrik jacks.
These are the crème de la crème of the electronics world. When coupled with a robust gold plated PCB and dust sealed potentiometers the recipe is as good as it can possibly be.
Controls
- VOLUME: Balance the output of the pedal. Unity (where the volume out matches the volume in) is roughly at the 12 o’clock position, depending on your guitars pickup output.
- SUSTAIN: Adjusts the pedal’s character from smooth lower gain fuzz through to a more saturated and aggressive fuzz.
- TREBLE: This control adds or cuts Treble to the Fuzz. Fully counterclockwise removes treble and fully clockwise boosts treble. This control is very interactive with the bass control.
- BASS: This control adds or cuts Bass to the Fuzz. Fully counterclockwise removes Bass and fully clockwise boosts Bass. This control is very interactive with the Treble control. Adjusting the Bass and Treble control allows you to tailor the tonality of the fuzz to match your guitar and
amp.
POWER: The Fallout Cloud works at voltages of 9V DC. This can be from a quality centre negative power supply such as the Gigrig Generator or Voodoo Lab Pedalpower Plus 2. Do not attempt to use this pedal with other voltages or polarities.
Build Quality
COMPONENTS: To ensure consistency, reliability and tonal supremacy, the Fallout Cloud is made with extremely high-quality components. 1% metalfilm resistors, WIMA and Panasonic capacitors where possible and robust through-hole plated PCB’S. In short, all of this means you won’t have to worry about your pedal and it should give you many years of inspiring tonal bliss
