The Wren and Cuff Caprid Small Foot is the pedalboard-friendly version of the full-size Caprid OG.
It’s the same Ram’s Head Muff circuit in a 125-style enclosure with top-mounted jacks. After five years of requests, Matthew Holl finally squeezed the circuit into a box that works on a crowded pedalboard without sacrificing the core sound.
Does it sound exactly the same as the full-size?
Matthew is honest about this: “Since it doesn’t have the same big 1/2-watt carbon-comp resistors, 3003 open layout, and exact caps (but same values), it’s never going to be identical.
That’s what makes the big box pedals in our line so special! However, to most people, the sound differences will be quite subtle, especially when you factor in that the hand-matched transistors are identical.” That’s as straightforward an answer as you’ll get from a pedal maker.
Our view is that the big Caprid’s are superb – as good as all the vintage classics and almost certainly more reliable. The Small Foot brings that sound to players who need the space. So, if you can fit the OG on your board, get the OG. If you can’t, the Small Foot is the honest answer.

Truth be told I didnt overly like it and sold it on
It has some of the signature Rams Head syrupy sustain but I’ve found other variants to be richer and depper and so more preferable.
So it was ok but not amazing – I preferred my EHX Rams Head, the Stomp Under Foot Rams Head and the Vick Audio ’73 (I think it is) pedals.
